EDF City Platform, the energy and urban planning tool, will help creating Russia’s first greenfield smart and sustainable city.

The EDF Group is the partner of Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye JSC (branch of Sberbank) who is in charge of building a future smart district of the Russian capital - Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye. This 460-hectare territory West of Moscow will host 66,000 inhabitants and 76,000 workers by 2030. The project aims to make a leap forward innovative technologies and services, modern architecture and advanced urban planning in Russia.

EDF has developed the Sberbank City Platform (SCP), a dedicated version of the EDF City Platform specifically created to suit the specific needs of the client but also local technological and regulatory frameworks as well as Russian harsh climate.
The digital simulation tool allows to compare and assess energy and urban scenarios and find the best sustainable concept for the project, optimising the consumption and local production of energy, supporting the development of electric mobility and rolling out new technologies and services to ensure the quality of life of the future residents.

The platform has been developed by EDF R&D department and EIFER research centre based in Karlsruhe in Germany, in close cooperation with the EDF Moscow representative office. It paved the way to a fruitful partnership between EDF and Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye and led to a further cooperation in the field of Smart City.
